Buyers' interest in online animal marketplaces launched ahead of Eid al-Adha. Buyers
are going to the websites to check the price of the animal. However, the traders do not have much news about the sale of more than two and a half thousand sacrificial animals in the digital market.Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in the country on Saturday, August 1. Traders expect sales to start three to four days before Eid.
The online platform 'Digital Hat' was launched on July 11 to sell sacrificial animals during the coronavirus epidemic. This digital hat has been implemented by Dhaka North City Corporation, Department of Information and Communication Technology, E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (E-CAB) and Bangladesh Dairy Farm Association.

Digital Hat is preparing to give home delivery in Dhaka after processing about two
thousand animal sacrifices and meat. Buyers do not have to pay for the purchase of
animals at the conventional market.
However,
buyers are dissatisfied with the price of cattle in online hats. In this
regard, online sellers say that buyers still do not 'understand the benefits'
of online shopping.
Buyers are not being explained how they can benefit by buying cows. Many people are not satisfied with looking at pictures or videos. Buyers can easily estimate the actual weight of a live cow as it has the advantage of selling according to the weight of a live cow.
About 100 traders from e-commerce association members have taken initiative to sell sacrificial animals online.
Arrangements are being made to keep cows on the farm if they
pay 10 to 25 per cent of the price for buying cows from digital hats and other
online haats. These cows will be delivered one to two days before Eid as per
the wish of the buyer. However, many people are giving the opportunity to pay the
remaining price or cash on delivery before the supply of animals. The traders
said that most of the buyers in Dhaka do not have a place to keep their animals
and they want to take their animals one day before Eid.
According to the Bangladesh Dairy Farm Association, 1.5 crore animals were sacrificed across the country last year. 25 lakh animals were sold for sacrifice in Dhaka division and 16 lakh in Dhaka metropolis alone.
