School Students
are passing a monotonous time at home in Bangladesh for almost four months
since their school closed in the middle of March this year. They have to remain inside the residence because of the Covid-19 pandemic. They are not allowed
to go out and play with their friends.
As a result, they
are becoming bored and their normal growth has been hampered.
Some schools have
already begun online classes which are not enough for the students as they are
not used do online classes. Besides, students in villages cannot join these
classes as most of them don’t have android phones and internet connections.
Students in the
capital city of Dhaka are not getting proper guidelines for their studies from
online classes. On the other hand, teachers don’t feel comfortable carrying out
classes through the internet because they didn’t experience it before.
While talking to
some parents, they complained that their children were getting exhausted
staying at home for a long time. Consequently, they are losing their mental and
physical health, they cannot sleep at night and they go to sleep late at night
and get up before noon. Their routines have completely changed and some
children become angry and argue with their parents and others while some
children are being tortured by their parents.
The government
has announced that the schools may open on August 6 but that is uncertain
because Covid-19 infection is spreading at an alarming rate.
Experts are
suggesting the parents to involve their children in creative works at home. The
children must be well behaved by their parents during this period. Parents can
teach them morals and advise them to say their prayers regularly. Most of the students
are passing their time by watching TV and playing games on mobile or computer
for long hours. As a result, they are getting sick.
